The new BWF rankings are out and has brought some great news for the Indian shuttlers along with it. India had a sensational performance at the recently concluded BWF World Championships and that has reflected on the new rankings of the Indian shuttlers. Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth Ajay Jayaram and Sai Praneeth have all moved up the ranking charts while PV Sindhu has retained her ranking after her silver medal showing in Glasgow.
In the men’s ranking, Srikanth’s showing in the world championships where he made the quarter-finals means that he has jumped up two places on the 8th spot in the rankings. He was ranked No. 10 the previous week. Ajay Jayaram is the Indian No. 2 and has jumped up one place from the previous week to move to World No.16. Sai Praneeth has also improved his position by two places and is now behind Jayaram being ranked No. 17 in the world. Sameer Verma has also improved upon his rankings moving up three spots to be now ranked World No.26. HS Prannoy though has seen a dip in his rankings and has fallen down three places to now be ranked World No. 18.
In the women’s rankings, the top 8 have not swapped places and remain in the same order. This means that PV Sindhu retains her spot at No.4 in the rankings. Saina Nehwal though after her brilliant showing at the Championships has jumped up by four places and is on the verge of cracking the top 10 rankings again. The former World No.1 is now ranked No.12 in the world. World Championship winner Nozomi Okuhara has also gained three places and is now World No.9 in the rankings.
