Indian Shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth bowed out in the semi-final the Malaysia Open 2018 championship after losing their respective singles matches. Srikanth lost in straight games to Kento Momota of Japan 13-21-13-21, while PV Sindhu went down to World no 1 and defending champion Tai Tzu Ying in three games. The Indian shuttler lost to her Taiwan opponent 15-21, 21-19, 11-21.
Srikanth found it difficult to match Momota skills as his deception and mixed shots made it difficult for Srikanth to dominate the rallies. While both the shuttlers went neck to neck in the first game, it was the Japanese who finally managed to take the lead with some brilliant shots from the back of the court to win the first game 13-21.
With Srikanth making errors, Momota made the advantage count as he comfortably leads 11-5 at the interval in the second game. After the break, the Japanese carried the momentum and went onto win the match.
PV Sindhu who defeated Carolina Marin in the quarterfinal failed to carry on her impressive run as she went down fighting to defending champion. After losing the first game, Sindhu came back stronger in the second game but ran out of steam in the third game.
