In a massive turn of event, it is being quoted that Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor is all set to be replaced by another B-town diva Deepika Padukone to play Saina Nehwal in her upcoming biopic.
Back in April 2017, it was revealed that the Aashiqui 2 star was supposed to play the role of former World Number 1 on the silver screen, but a report from the Deccan Chronicle has quoted that since the film needs a ‘heftier star-power,’ Deepika Padukone – daughter of All England Badminton champion Prakash Padukone – might be picked ahead of Shraddha. “It needs a heftier star power. The producers are apparently trying to re-cast the project with Deepika Padukone in the lead. Her father was a badminton champ and she plays the game pretty well herself,” a source was quoted by the Deccan Chronicle.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Amol Gupte will be directing the film, but the project has hit a major stumbling block in the process.
Meanwhile, as things stand for Shraddha Kapoor, the 30-year-old has already trained with Saina, an Olympic Bronze medallist, at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad and even Amol Gupte has heaped praises on her. “The shooting of Saaho begins from next week, so the actress has arrived early to rehearse the scenes and get her dialogues right. She is currently rehearsing with the assistant directors. She is giving her 100 percent to the movie,” a source was quoted by Deccan Chronicle back in September.
But as the aforementioned source has quoted, a change in the cast is on the cards.
