The game of basketball has always been high on glam. And now, as Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan supports UBA India, the first multi-national franchise-based basketball league of India launched in 2015, the temperatures are sure to rise to another level.
Kareena was quoted by UBA India as saying, “Everyone is playing amazingly in UBA. I am really happy that, even though cricket is the big sport here, it’s so nice to see basketball bring brought closer to home.” Married in the family of Nawabs of Pataudi, that has a strong connect with sports - with father-in law Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi being a legendary Indian cricketer – Kareena lending her support to basketball doesn’t come as a surprise.
In his statement given to UBA India website, UBA chairman Tommy Fisher, said, “Season 5, you're not gonna want to take your eyes off the TV. I've watched six games here (in the Million Rupees Challenge in the UBA US Pro Performance Camp) and every single play is competitive, you can't take your eyes off it. Sometimes in sports, you can watch a game for 15 minutes and not see an action play, here it is every 15 seconds guaranteed.
He further said, “And what you're gonna see in season 5, I think is going to knock your socks off. These guys play above the rim. They are physical, they are strong, of course, the addition of Satnam Singh, he brings a whole new game down low. It’s going to be entertaining. I'm really looking forward to it. And I'm really happy at the pace we are at right now and bright days ahead for the UBA I can tell you that.”
