Investment in food and fitness
Shaquille O’Neal has made lots of money from his NBA career so he decided to buy Five Guys franchises but most importantly you will be surprised to know that the man owns franchisee in 155 locations. When you are an athlete fitness is always an important part of your playing career. So being closely related to the term the Lakers legend decided to own fitness Franchise by the name of 24 Hour Fitness and that 40 locations to be precise.
Google fetches him huge returns
Did you know that O’Neil had invested in Google before it went public and over the years he managed to receive a huge amount from that investment. During “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” O’Neal revealed the story behind one of his best investments.
“I’m actually babysitting the guy’s kids while he’s in a meeting,” O’Neal says. “So after the meeting, he says, ‘You know what? You’re good with kids, I like you, I’m going to bring you in on this investment.’ And it was called Google. He said, ‘You know, in the future, you’re going to be able to type on your phone, search engine this, do this, boom, boom, boom, you should invest.’
“I invested, and then a couple years later, I got a really big return,” he adds.
Gets into Real estate business
Real estate business has been a profitable business for many athletes, who have gone onto make fortunes by making an investment in this kind of business. Shaq too decided to venture into both residential and commercial properties out in which he tasted a lot of success. In 2006, he invested in The Met Miami, a residential high rise that has more than 1,000 units. He is a part owner of a few nightclubs in Vegas. O’Neal also invested in Newark, New Jersey properties including CityPlex12, a theater that he bought and renovated and turned into profit-making theater.
Shaq has an endorsement deal with The General auto insurance company and apart from that his other ventures are 150 car washes, 17 Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Buick endorsement, Icy Hot endorsement, Burger Kind endorsement, lets not forget the Reebok endorsement and many, many more.
