We have time and again stressed on the fact that the world of sports is just another melting point of both the wackiest and questionable fashion statements in the world. While some athletes are known to put on their A-game off the pitch, the others are in a league of their own.
Floyd Mayweather, the retired boxer who is known for his lavish lifestyle and media-friendly outings, was spotted in a rather ‘bling’ look at one of the NBA games this week.
Pictured, the retired boxer was seen sporting a whopping 11kgs in gold neckpieces while the rest of the look included a striking black and white chessboard shorts and a graphic blue shirt.
Now we have been witness to some news-worthy fashion outfits in the past – right from the flawless gowns of tennis ace Serena Williams to football star Lionel Messi’s not-so-cool formal looks at his Ballon d’Or ceremonies. But in recent months, Floyd sure takes the cake.
The retired 50-0 king appeared to be wearing four different gold pieces on his neck, all amounting up to 11 kgs in gold. Seated courtside at the game, Floyd was seen (strikingly) enjoying the game between the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors in his comfortable shorts and simple tee which begs us to scratch our heads in confusion.
Mayweather completed the look with a lavish Richard Mille watch that is alone valued at a massive £500,000 – and he also wore £100 Nike Air Max 90s – again, scratching our heads.
Even though the game ended with the Warriors winning 132-105, the highlight of the game had to be Mayweather.
Now we won’t take the call on whether the strange outfit by the boxer might actually appeal to some fans out there, we’ll let you decide.
Fans have been hoping to see the five-weight world champion come back to the ring after his tease about a big announcement coming in soon. All we can do is guess the future and see what happens.
