The stage is set for 300 pugilists from 70 countries across 10 weight categories to fight it out at the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Women World Championship which will be held in New Delhi,. The event will commence from November 15 and will continue till 24th. MC Mary Kom will be leading India’s charge at the event and will be looking to win her sixth world title.
The Manipuri boxer will have a chance to win her second crown at home after winning gold in the 2006 edition.
As the Indian women contingent are slogging hard in the ring ahead of the tournament, minister of sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Thursday paid a visit to the contingent at the Indira Gandhi stadium. The visit also witnessed a never before seen practice session which took place outside the ring.
Five-time World Champion and Olympic Bronze medalist Mary Kom and Olympic Silver medalist Rajyavardhan Rathore faced each other in a boxing session.

A video of the practice session between the minister and the boxer was shared by the boxer herself on her official Twitter handle. In the video, the minister was seen geared up in punching mitts and was seen engaged in a sparring with Mary. While Rathore was trying to evade most of Mary’s attack, he also surprised the boxer by some punches from his end.
