Sports personalities launching their own products has almost become an everyday thing now. Famous athletes are always looking to expand their brands, some getting into fashion, some others getting into real estate and the rest getting into the food and beverages industry.
UK’s top boxer Anthony Joshua is no guest to this practice. The celebrated athlete launched his very own Lucozade apple and raspberry drink, aptly called ‘Fruit Punch’ with his “Stay Humble” motto.
AJ, who has been vocal about his preparation for the June 1 bout against Andy Ruiz Jr., was seen on the streets of his hometown, Watford, delivering crates of his newly launched drink to corner shops. The boxer was even seen surprise joggers and customers with freebies of the new product.
He said, “It’s not every day you launch a drink with your own face on it. This is an exciting venture for me so I couldn’t help but get stuck in and put up the billboards myself.”
“Lucozade Sport aims to support everybody that is made to move and I hope my new flavour will inspire even more people to get active.”
Head of marketing at Lucozade Sports, Claire Keaveny added, “AJ has transformed British boxing and inspired the nation to fall back in love with the sport.”
“Lucozade Sport has supported him on his journey from the very beginning, so we’re delighted to have collaborated with AJ on our newest flavour. We expect Fruit Punch to be a knockout hit as AJ continues to dominate the heavyweight division,” he added.
But this wasn’t all. The 29-year-old boxer was also seen putting up his own billboards of the drink around the city and posing in front of his posters after he helped put them up and take selfies.
Now how often do you see a world-famous athlete put up his own billboards in a city?
Anthony Joshua will next be seen put his heavyweight titles on the line as he faces Mexican-American boxer Andy Ruiz Jr. on June 1.
