With the 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games just around the corner, it is high time we talk about some dazzling moments of the tournament. That being said, let's talk about the 16th edition of the tournament hosted in the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. This was the first time when Commonwealth Games were organized in an Asian country and this was the only time Cricket was played in the Commonwealth Games.
Also, this was the first edition of the games which included team sports like Cricket, field hockey, netball and others. Talking about Cricket, in particular, 16 teams participated in the event and were divided into four (A, B, C, D) groups. Things to be noted was the fact that the Caribbean islands went into the tournament as separate nations, not as a West Indies team. South Africa and Australia battled for the gold medal and it were the former who emerged champions.
