Owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders and Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan turned 53 on Friday (November 2). To mark the day, who’s who of the sporting world such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh wished the Badshah of Bollywood on Twitter.
We all know how much SRK loves cricket and his IPL team KKR. Despite his busy schedule, he takes out time to watch his team play in the Indian Premier League and we have always seen him embracing his fans from the stands.
Despite rough beginnings in the tournament, KKR have bounced really well over the years and have established their name in the league. KKR have won the tournament twice – in 2012 and 2014.
In the early season of the Indian Premier League – it was all about SRK. The first thing that came into mind while talking about KKR was that SRK is its owner, the brand and the face. And it was correct as well – from hoardings to television ads – KKR was all about Shah Rukh Khan. He was spotted in almost every match of Kolkata.
When the IPL began in 2008, KKR had Sourav Ganguly as their iconic player – that was one massive advantage not just in Kolkata, but across the country. SRK-Dada partnership did some crazy things when it came to the popularity of the brand KKR. Despite struggling on the field – KKR was one of the most supported teams in the league.
The team struggled in the initial years of the tournament – then came the most calculated risk which KKR team management and SRK took. They changed their team around and brought Gautam Gambhir in 2011. From there on, team KKR came to its full glory in the playing department as well.
SRK has always had a special bond with his team players and the KKR fans. Time and again, he has tweeted about his team and shared the emotions of the players and fans through his social media posts. Here are some of his tweets which shows how much it affects him when his team loses on the pitch.
Can’t deny, feeling very sad we didn’t get it right. Ami KKR till next year now.Sumtimes our best is just not good enuff. All the best SRH.

SRK has not only shown that he is a great co-owner of the team but also that he is a great cheerleader as well. We have seen it all from him when he plays his part as a cheerleader – from encouraging players from the sidelines to celebrating in true Bollywood style.
According to the reports – whatever be KKR’s performances in a season, they never lose their status as one of the most high-profile teams in the IPL. Even more significantly, the KKR have been the only IPL franchise to consistently post profits in every season.
