Working against all odds and turning fortunes in your favour is not everyone’s cup of tea but the Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder Parvez Rasool contradicted this to make a cut back in the Indian side. The right-arm all-rounder’s performance in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy was well appreciated after he was picked up in the team for T20I for India against England. Snubbed from Rest of India squad for Irani Trophy, Rasool who has just played one ODI for India so far, couldn’t have got a better compensation. The Jammu and Kashmir cricketer came up with what he feels after getting picked back in the Indian team.
Arsalan– You will don the Indian jersey once again. How do you feel about it ?
Parvez– Obviously I feel really happy about getting picked up again in the Indian squad and I just want to thank Almighty for this. It feels really good when you work hard and you are rewarded for the same. I now see it as an opportunity and I feel really good to be back in Team India.
Arsalan– What is your take on the ongoing healthy competition between the spinners in domestic circuit?
Parvez– It’s really great when you have competition for cementing your place in the team. When you see so many players locking horns with each other, you start working harder for yourself and give your best shot whenever possible. I feel this was a really good season for me. I had a tally of 38 wickets and scored 629 runs.
Arsalan– You will now be a part of the squad that has a coach like Anil Kumble. How do you see it as a learning experience ?
Parvez– I’m really excited that I will have interaction with Anil Kumble. I guess the time I will spend with him would turn out to be fruitful for me. You surely learn a lot when you have so many senior players around you so it’s all a learning process.
Arsalan– Talking about Virat Kohli, how excited are you to be a part of a team which is led by him ? How do you look up to him ?
Parvez– Everyone looks up to Virat Kohli as a role model and it’s a huge thing for me as well to share the dressing room with him. I have also travelled with him during the IPL so that was a great learning experience for me. He is somebody who creates a different aura and is an inspiration for all cricketers.
