Cricket is one of the most unpredictable games; especially when it comes to the world cup. The ICC World Cup 2019 has already seen two low scores. These scores are from teams that are not weak but considered the strongest of teams. In fact, worthy enough of even lifting the trophy.
Pakistan played West Indies in their first match and notched up a score of only 105 in their innings. Sri Lanks started off against New Zealand and had a similar story, scoring only 137. West Indies covered up the score in only 10.4 overs, while it took New Zealand only 16.1 overs.
These were disappointing totals but they weren’t the lowest scores. Here are the five lowest scores in World Cup history.
Canada (Top two spots)

Canada is not known for its cricket, but they are sure known for the lowest scores. The Canadian outfit holds the top two spots in this list. On the first occasion, they managed a score of only 36 against Sri Lanka in 2003. The Lankans chased it down in a mere 4.4 overs. For the second spot, Canada bettered the first one by 9 runs and managed 45. This one was against England way back in 1979.
Namibia

Just like Canada, Namibia isn’t known much for their cricketing achievements either. In the 2003 World Cup, they were taken apart by Australia. The overall team total for Namibia was only 45 runs. Glen McGrath went through the weak Namibian batting line up. He had figures of 7/15. Australia won the match by 256 runs after scoring 301 in the first innings.
Bangladesh

Bangladesh is one of the two teams on the list that is featuring in this year’s World Cup. They have the fourth lowest total from the game against West Indies in 2011. The Bangladeshis managed only 58 runs in their allotted 50 overs. The fact that they were playing on home soil made it even worse for fans and players.
Pakistan

Pakistan is the only big team and the second one featuring in the ICC World Cup 2019. They hold the fifth spot in this list of lowest team scores in WC history. Pakistan was bowled out for a score of only 74 runs. It was England yet again, this time in the 1992 World Cup. However, Pakistan went on to lift the trophy in that edition.
Let us hope the new World Cup that leaves out weak teams does not bring a challenger to this list.
