After 51 days of battle, the final day has come for the Indian Premier League 2018, where top two teams will clash for the title. Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will lock horns in this epic final at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Ahead of the 11th final of IPL, here are some interesting 11 stats one must look.
1 – Instance of orange cap holder batsman ending the season with his team lifting the title — Robin Uthappa in 2014 for KKR. If SRH wins this final, then Kane Williamson will become the 2nd player to do so. He will also become the 4th captain to win the Orange Cap after Sachin Tendulkar in 2010, David Warner in 2015 and 2017 and Virat Kohli in 2016.
2 – Times Mumbai has hosted IPL final. The first one was in 2008, when Rajasthan Royals defeated CSK by 3 wickets; Mumbai hosted their next IPL final in 2010 — both at DY Patil Stadium. This means, Wankhede will host its first ever IPL final today.
3rd final for Hyderabad as a city-based team. Their first final came in 2009 when they were Deccan Chargers and then in 2016 as Sunrisers Hyderabad.
3 – Players have the chance to record their 4th IPL title — Harbhajan Singha and Ambati Rayudu from CSK and Yusuf Pathan from SRH. Harbhajan and Rayudu were part MI’s all three previous titles, while Yusuf was part of RR’s win in 2008 and then KKR’s two finals victory in 2012 and 2014.
