Two important events took place this week – first episode of Game of Thrones, season 8 aired in the wee hours of the morning followed by the announcement of the players making it to the Indian team for the ICC World Cup 2019. We couldn’t help but draw similarities between certain Indian cricketers and GoT characters. Here is our list of cricketers who can do justice to certain Game of Thrones characters.
Virat Kohli – Jon Snow
Much like how Jon Snow is the central attraction of the show, there is a perpetual spotlight shining bright on Virat Kohli’s every move on the field. Their ‘knight-in-shining-armour’ individual personalities are such that you simply gravitate towards them.
Ravindra Jadeja – Jaime Lannister
Misunderstood (and maybe slightly hated) in the beginning, Ravindra Jadeja and Jaime Lannister build the connection with each other for us. What’s more, Jadeja and Jaime have undergone transformations in their own way and for the better! The crowd now cheers these otherwise misunderstood characters instead of blaming them for the fall.
Shikhar Dhawan – Greyworm
Neither of the two knows the meaning of backing down from an opportunity nor do they lose focus while on the (battle) field. For us, Shikhar Dhawan is very much like Greyworm. They are the no-nonsense people who concentrate solely on delivering better than what is expected of them.
Rohit Sharma – The Night King
If it wasn’t for Jon Snow, the Night King (Rohit Sharma) would have conquered it all long back. While Jon (or Aegon?) is the true heir to the throne, the Night King is the self-made king who amassed a following of his own. There is also a reason why they are often pitted against each other – each one has the ability to beat the other one.
Hardik Pandya – Ser Bronn
Why Ser Bronn, you ask? Well, Hardik Pandya and Ser Bronn have always held the reputation of being a ‘Ladies Man’. Whatever the situation may be, their goal is to aim for the gold. Always. Each one also possesses the ability to surprise everyone by swooping in and playing the hero in the most unexpected situations and saving for a day (for the time being)!
MS Dhoni – Tyrion Lannister
This is got nothing to do with the height but rather the intelligence quotient that is common between the two. Tyrion’s knack for coming up with brilliant solutions and staying calm in tense situations can be mirrored with MS Dhoni’s presence on the field. He hasn’t been nicknamed ‘Captain Cool’ for nothing!
