Known for his phenomenal batting and fielding skills, Ricky Ponting once again showed why he is one of the most sought after cricketers in the world when he took a blinder in an IPL match during his playing days. The instance is of time when he grabbed a single-handed catch to dismiss Unmukt Chand off Harbhajan Singh’s bowling.
During the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier league, Mumbai Indians locked horns with Delhi Daredevils in Mumbai. Tottering at 1/2, the home team rode on Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma’s swashbuckling knocks of 86 and 74 respectively to score 209 runs in 20 overs.
In reply, Delhi Daredevils had a dismal start as courtesy Ricky Ponting, Mumbai Indians drew the first blood on the very first ball as Unmukt Chand was sent back in the hut for a golden duck. The former Australian captain held on to a stunner at short extra cover when he grabbed a single-handed diving catch off Harbhajan.
David Warner though scored a total of 61 runs while Juneja smashed 49 during the course but the individual knocks were not enough as they lagged a total of 44 runs to give away the match to Mumbai Indians.
Mitchell Johnson, Pragyan Ojha and Kieron Pollard scalped two wickets apiece while Harbhajan Singh and Lasith Malinga picked one each for Mumbai Indians to thump Delhi Daredevils.
