On 2nd June 1965, two of Australia’s greats who also happen to be greatest twins to have played the game, were born. With a total of 35025 international runs in between them, Waugh brothers have thrashed the best bowlers in the business all over the world.
There have been many great partnerships that the two have weaved together for Australia and all of them are memorable ones. There is one incident, though, which both of these brothers would like to forget. It was during a test match against England when Steve Waugh was playing on 99 and Mark was at the other end, running for the 11th man Craig McDermott. Chris Lewis bowled a nice in-swinger which Steve defended just in front of him. Out of the blue, Mark ran for an impossible single. Before he could come back to the crease, bails were off. On-field umpires went up for the decision. That was a red-light Steve Waugh did not wanted to see.
Steve was left stranded on 99 and walked back to the dressing room, shaking his head. Mark made sure he maintained good distance from his twin brother.
