Virat Kohli till a few years back was a typical Delhite, who loved his food. He had a penchant for traditional grand Indian cuisine specialties like biryani and butter chicken. But after taking a cold hard look in the mirror after some under-performances in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the current Indian captain decided to change his ways and is arguably, the best batsman on the planet currently.
Already on a very tough diet, the Indian skipper has now decided to give up non-vegetarian items and has gone completely vegan four months ago, according to a report in the newspaper Times of India. His wife Anushka Sharma has also joined him in going vegan.
Kohli has also given up eggs and dairy products. A source told Times of India, “Kohli started this diet four months ago and is feeling stronger as his digestive power has increased. He isn’t missing meat, eggs or dairy.”
The source also added that Kohli was planning this change for a long time but was waiting for the perfect opportunity to implement these changes. The source further added, “Two years ago, when he was on a normal diet, he had said that he would go vegan if given a choice. He is now feeling stronger than before.”
Adapting anything which helps him improve his game, could only be a positive sign for the fans of the Indian cricket team.
