Sri Lankan legends Kumar Sangakkara have brought many laurels to their nations. They are the top two run-getters in Tests and among the top three run-getters in ODIs for Sri Lanka and they are also very close friends off the field. As a result, the two co-own a restaurant in Colombo, called 'Ministry of Crab'. The restaurant was started in 2012. The cuisine consists of Seafood, Asian and of course Sri Lankan.

Menu: The Ministry of Crab was started in partnership with famous Sri Lankan chef Darshan Munidasa, who runs a chain of restaurants I Colombo called Nihonbashi.

As the name suggests, the restaurant specialises in crabs. The restaurant gives their customers many options when it comes to crabs. The crabs' rates are fixed according to how much they weigh. The rates start from 3,000 Sri Lankan rupees for half KG crab. Small will cost 4,000, the medium will cost 5,000, large and XI will cost 7,000 and 8,000 respectively.

There are three other categories as well. Kilo crab, which is exactly 1KG is worth LKR 8,00, Jumbo is 9,000 and Colossal, which varies between LKR11,000 to 13,000.

And we aren't done with crabs just yet! There's also baked crab, which takes 3 hours to prepare. Also, Avocado crabs are available. If you are the biggest fan of crabs, you will love Crabzilla, which will weigh KGs , but it will cost you a whooping LKR 20,000.

Other than the crabs, the restaurant also has the usual Sri Lankan food like fish curry, different types of fishes, clams, and prawns.

Location: The restaurant is located Old Dutch Hospital Road in Colombo. The Dutch hospital near which the restaurant is located is said to be the oldest building in Colombo Fort area as it was present even during the Dutch colonial era, which is believed to be from the year 1681.

Cost: According to Zomato, the cost for 2 is LKR 4,000, which is a little over $26.

Reviews: There are mixed reviews for the restaurant. Not everyone can afford such a fancy and a little 'non-budget' restaurant, but for people shelling out so much money, a few feel that they are not getting value for their money.

In one of the reviews on Zomato, a user wrote, “I had the crab and avocado salad. The portion was quite disappointing. The proportion of crab to avocado was way off. Nonetheless, the crab was delicious.”

There were a few that felt that t was over-priced but worth it. According to a review o TripAdvisor, “My husband really love this restaurant. I personally felt that it was a bit overpriced and the food was a bit heavy however I think a lot of people really like this restaurant so it was probably just personal preference.”

On the same platform, one user was clearly unhappy with the service. Something for Sanga and Mahela to take note of. “Went as it was a highly recommended food place. Its crowded on most days. Staff is cold and not very friendly. We asked for some chilli flakes and the waiter told us that they are not allowed to give any additional condiments!! They want to push you out so that others can be accommodated. Average,” the user wrote.
