Aaron Finch, who last played a T20I match in October this year, has raced past Virat Kohli by claiming the no.1 position in batting ratings. On the other hand, Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim too eclipsed Jasprit Bumrah to become the top rank bowler in T20Is.
Imad too played his last T20I match in October this year. The rise in Finch and Imad’s ranking happened because Kohli missed the entire T20I series against Sri Lanka, while Bumrah missed the last match of the series, which led to the Pakistan spinner’s rise to the top. Moreover, Bumrah went wicketless in both the T20Is he played against Sri Lanka. Likewise Kohli, Bumrah too loses two slots in the ranking as Rashid Khan takes the second spot.
The updated rankings came after the conclusion of series between India and Sri Lanka. Finch not only replaced Kohli but the Indian batsman also went two places down. West Indies opener Evin Lewis moved to the second spot in T20I batting rankings as Kohli is now at third. Although, the difference is only of 8 points between Kohli and Finch.
Every player loses two percent of their rating points for missing each T20I. Kohli slipped from 824 points to 776.
Finch and Imad have both topped the respective batting and bowling rankings in T20Is previously as well. Finch spent 121 matches and 368 days as no. 1, while Imad spent 15 matches and 132 days while being at the top. Finch last topped the chart on March 18, 2016, and Imad on November 4 this year.
In other changes, KL Rahul gained 23 slots and is now at the 4th position in the rankings, while Rohit Sharma earned six slots as he is now standing at 14th. Coming to bowlers, leg-spinners Yuzvendra Chahal leaped 14 slots to move to 16th position. In addition, with India’s whitewash win in T20I series, their ratings are now 121 from 119, which makes them stand at the second team in team rankings below Pakistan with 124. India leapfrogged West Indies (120) and New Zealand (120) in the tally.
