Australia‘s T20 hat-trick man Andrew Tye became the latest inductee in the list of players to reveal his all-time XI. In the recently conducted interview with Sportswallah, Tye opened up on his best XI, in a team of legends and picked Justin Langer in order repay the favour by former Australian.
Tye, who has already represented Australia in 7 T20Is and recorded 3 hat-tricks in T20 cricket last year, might be donning his nation’s ODI jersey in the coming series. His three T20 hat-tricks in 2017 is the record as no bowler has ever taken these many in a calendar year in the format.
While answering his XI, Tye went with the flow when it comes to selecting the batters. Coming to bowlers, when asked whether he would pick himself, Tye funnily chuckled and denied to do such thing. Well, there have been couple of cricketers who have picked themselves in their XI.
Not just he named players of his XI but he also justified his selection by explaining why Tye is selecting them.
Andrew Tye’s all-time XI –
Alastair Cook – Just because of his temperament and once he gets hundred, he goes big. I would definitely have him opening the batting.
Justin Langer – To repay the favour (laughs). Just his tenacity and eager to win the battle and fight against the opposition. Probably one of the most exciting opening pair (Langer and Cook) and effective way of wearing down the bowlers.
Jacques Kallis – The record that he has with both bat and ball, has to be pretty much in anyone’s top XI ever I reckon.
Ricky Ponting – Elite player, just such a good batsman to watch when he is going.
Virat Kohli – One of the best batsman in the world at the moment and have to him in the team.
Steven Smith – He is still so young and averaging over 60 with an unbelievable technique.
Adam Gilchrist (wk)– He changed the landscape for wicketkeepers forever. The way he could be so destructive and turn the game on his head in a matter of 100 balls.
Shane Warne – The control that he had as leg-spinner. The fact that nobody else as leg-spinner has ever come close to what he has done.
Dale Steyn – Again another who shows such ferocious way. Gets the job done and really let the batsman know that he is in the contest.
Curtly Ambrose – His tearing pace and bounce made it tough for any batsman.
Glenn McGrath – The control that he had in, ability to take wickets over and over again and control over the run-rate, that was outstanding.
