On of Indian cricket‘s greatest story ever scripted was the historical World Cup win back in 1983, when former captain and Indian legend Kapil Dev lead the team to become world champions.
With the cricket fever at an all-time high right now with the ICC World Cup 2019 underway, there was another big moment when Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who plays the role of Kapil Dev in ’83, a biopic on the World Cup win of 1983, met with cricket greats and also bought a 2000 pound bat signed by Sachin Tendulkar, Sir Vivian Richards and Wasim Akram.

Ranveer grabbed the opportunity to get his hands on the bat, which was sold to the actor in an auction. Ranveer put the highest bid of 2000 pounds (Almost 1.75 Lakhs Rupees) making sure he doesn’t miss out having the autographed bat.
Ranveer had his fanboy moment when he attended an event by India Today, where cricket greats had gathered for a chit chat. The actor took to Instagram where he posted pictures with each legend and expressed his gratitude towards the sporting icons.
Ranveer Singh is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for his role in the film. Currently shooting in the UK for the movie, the ‘Gully Boy’ actor was seen seizing every moment while he met Australian spin legend Shane Warne and India’s Sunil Gavaskar too.
Last month, the actor had shared clips and pictures of his intense prep up for the role as he treated fans to him working out in a gym and practicing his batting skills in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Surely a dedicated artist, Ranveer will be seen playing the role of Kapil Dev, while other Bollywood actors like R Badree, Hardy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi among the rest, will play other members of the World Cup winning squad.
Treating his fans to pictures with cricket greats, buying a 2000 pound autographed bat and sharing his preparation for his role in ’83, Ranveer can truly be called a big fan of the game. Having earlier revealed that cricket has always had its place in his heart, it is safe to say that Ranveer seems like the perfect man for the job in the biopic.
