New year brings new expectations and new hope. Something similar has happened in the life of India middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. After finishing 2017 as the second highest run-getter in Tests with 1,140 from 18 innings at 67.05 with 4 hundreds and 5 fifties to his name, Pujara started off 2018 too on a happy note and he took to social media to announce that he is going to be a father for the first time.
Here is what Pujara tweeted:
We’re expecting our little bundle of joy this year. May the coming year be as blessed and happy for everyone as it’ll be for us ?? pic.twitter.com/PSFhmkvL2K

Pujara is currently in South Africa with Team India where they will take on the Proteas in three Tests, six ODIs and three T20Is. The tour will begin with the first Test, which will begin at Newlands, Cape Town. Pujara will once again be entrusted to deliver on the field, but a part of his mind will be thinking about his soon-to-be-born child and his wife Puja.
India recently landed in South Africa, where they are set to have one of their biggest challenges they have faced in a year or so. India have been dominant on home soil, winning all the series in the last year. The year 2018 will be a busy schedule for India as they will also travel to England in June and move to Australia at the end of the year.
India are yet to lose a series under Virat Kohli‘s captaincy and South Africa have always been dominant at home. They recently beat Zimbabwe in the first ever 4-day day-night Test by an innings and 120 runs. The Proteas also welcomed back AB de Villiers into the Test XI after a long break and he will be rearing to go in the series against India.
