While Team India celebrated their maiden Test series win against Australia, one member of the team faced severe backlash on social media for his rather offensive statements on film-maker Karan Johar’s chat show, ‘Koffee with Karan’. Yes, we are talking about Hardik Pandya, who is being roasted by social media for his overtly frank answers on the show.
Hardik was joined by his teammate and bestie KL Rahul on the show, but it was Pandya’s comments that garnered all the attention. After facing the backlash and criticism, now the cricketer has issued an apology on social media, saying he ‘got a bit carried away with the nature of the show’.
Hardik took to Instagram and wrote, “After reflecting on my comments on Koffee With Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect,”.
During the show, Hardik revealed that he informed his parents when he lost his virginity and told them: “Main karke aya hai aaj (I had sex today)”.
Talking about another incident, he revealed, “At a party, my parents asked me ‘acha tera wala (women) kaun sa hai [who is your interest here?]… So I said ‘yeh, yeh, yeh (pointing out women)’ and they were like ‘waah, we are proud of you beta’.”
Post injury, Hardik returned to the Indian squad for the final two Tests of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, at Melbourne and Sydney. The all-rounder, who had been out of action since September due to a back injury sustained at the Asia Cup, has stayed on in Australia for the three-match ODI series starting January 12.
