Australia have announced their 15-man squad for ICC Champions Trophy scheduled to take place in England in June. Steve Smith will be leading the Aussie side with David Warner being his deputy.
The side looks formidable and competitive, filled with many all-rounders including Moises Henriques, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis. One of the major exclusion has been James Faulkner, who was the man of the match in the final of the 2015 ODI World Cup. The other major inclusions are Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh, who have played ODI cricket for Australia earlier this year.
Lynn, Starc expected to be fit by June
Two of the star players of Australia, Chris Lynn and Mitchell Starc are healing from their respective injuries. Starc was ruled out of the India-Australia Test series due to knee injury, which has troubled him enough in the past as well. Also, Chris Lynn injured his shoulder while fielding during an Indian Premier League game. Both of them will be fit by the time Champions Trophy starts, believes Cricket Australia.
Also for the first time, Australian pace battery will see the quartet of Micthell Starc, James Pattinson, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood.
The teams have begun to announce their squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. On Wednesday, South Africa, too announce their ODI squad for the ICC tournament.
