Team India ahead of much-awaited Test series against England has some injury problems to address. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is already out of the upcoming ODI series and there is a possibility that wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha might miss the Test series.
Washington Sundar also suffered an injury and he had to return home. He was replaced by Krunal Pandya for the recently concluded T20I series which Team India won 2-1.
Saha is yet to recover from the thumb injury which he suffered during the eleventh season of the Indian Premier League while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was hit by a sharp bouncer by Shivam Mavi after which the injury went from bad to worse.
“The injury is more serious than it seemed. He is still wearing a soft plaster on his thumb. He is going through his fitness drills and very little cricket. It will be a huge risk if he goes to England with even one percent doubt in his mind. The selectors will pick a day for selection in another two days,” a source said while updating the injury concern.
Saha was not part of the historic Test played between India and Afghanistan in the M. Chinnaswami Stadium, Bangalore last month. Dinesh Karthik took his place in the side and there is a possibility that he might replace him in the squad once again.
The five-match Test series between India and England will start on August 1.
