The David Warner-led side will look to begin the proceedings from where they left. While the opening would be an encounter between two teams consisting of hard hitters in their respective sides, the finally would be played on May 21 in Hyderabad.
The tournament will be spread over 47 days across 10 venues. The schedule has been designed with each team playing 14 matches – 7 of them at home venues. A total of 351 players are going to go under the hammer in IPL auctions on February 20. IPL auctions had garnered huge interest after English players nominated themselves in the auction list. The base price of all the IPL players was out on Tuesday where we get to know which player expects to earn what tentative amount from the auctions.
On top of the priority list in the auctions will surely be England’s Ben Stokes, who has base price of Rs 2 crore. There will be huge competition when his name is announced. There are many teams who have shown interest in getting Stokes in their team. Kolkata Knight Riders will be without the services of Andre Russell, who faces one year ban for failure to produce himself in court in a dope case. Also, KKR released a lot of pacers from their team including Morne Morkel, Jason Holder and Shaun Tait. They are in dire need of a quality paceman in their ranks as Stokes’ all-round abilities might just be the big boost they need in their squad. On the other hand, RCB captain Virat Kohli had also shown interest in Stokes as he saw his game closely during the Test series last year.
