The auction of the tenth Indian Premier League edition saw some surprise picks for the franchise teams. Players like Ben Stokes, Tymal Mills bagged the highest bids. It was already speculated that the English players would be the most sought after pack and the assumptions didn’t really go wrong.
Ben Stokes became the highest paid player in this season while the most expensive in the IPL till date. Here is a list of top five players who bagged the maximum money in Bengaluru.
Ben Stokes, who was sold to Rising Pune Supergiants for a sum of Rs 14.5 Cr., became the most expensive player in this season. Though the Englishman won’t be able to complete the tournament due to national duties, still he emerged to be the highest paid player.
12 crore to the left-arm fast bowler, Tymal Mills was picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. It could be understood that RCB might have gone after Mills as the Aussie spearhead Mitchell Starc opted out of the IPL 2017 just a day before auctions.
The Delhi Daredevils have been searching to form a perfect combination for quite some time. They have Zaheer Khan as the main lead pacer but the addition of Kagiso Rabada surely adds up to their strength. The Proteas bowler was purchased for a total sum of Rs 5 crore.
This might full-fill the saying, “Sunrisers Hyderabad loss is a Kolkata Knight Riders’ gain”, as the Gautam Gambhir-led side opted for left-arm pacer Boult for a sum of Rs 5 crore.
Pat Cummins was sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 4.5 crore in the IPL 2017 auction.
