Dhoni was in Delhi to participate in the Vijay Hazare trophy, where he has been an active member. He has acted as the mentor, as well as the captain of the squad. He has captained the side in all the six matches played and his leadership has led to Jharkhand performing brilliantly, surprising one and all and reaching the semi-finals of the Vijay Hazare trophy.
Dhoni is participating in the Vijay Hazare trophy to gain match practice before the ICC Champions Trophy in June. India head into the tournament as the defending champions and MS Dhoni will be a crucial member of the squad. Dhoni’s calming presence holds the Indian middle order together and he also acts as India’s finisher lower down the order. If India is to win the ICC Champions Trophy, it needs all its players, especially MS Dhoni in good form. With him displaying decent form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, India’s chances of winning the Vijay Hazare trophy just got infinitely higher.
