Darren Sammy led Peshawar Zalmi to the 2017 Pakistan Super League title and he has made an excellent impression on the fans of Pakistan cricket and the owners of the franchise as well. So much so, that Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi has expressed his desire that former captain of West Indies team should now convert to the religion of Islam.
Darren Sammy has proven himself to be one of the best captains in the shortest format of the game. He led West Indies to two WT20 championships. He then worked his magic in the Pakistan Super League with the Peshawar Zalmi, leading them to their maiden PSL crown in 2017.
Javed Afridi, owner if the Peshawar Zalmi has been so impressed with Sammy, that he now wants him to convert to Islam. Afridi told reporters, “I pray that he accepts Islam as his religion. He has complete knowledge and the way he is reading about Islam, I think it’s the biggest achievement. For me, for my whole team, it is a big thing.”
Here is the video of Afridi stating that he wants Sammy to convert to Islam:
Though Sammy might have made a great impression in the Pakistan Super League, wanting someone to change their religion is a pretty controversial opinion. It is left to be seen what Darren Sammy thinks about Afridi’s views.
