Another former India batsman has entered the verbal spat between Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly, who got engaged in war of words after the former blamed him for showing disrespect to the selection process. Earlier, India spin legend Bishan Singh Bedi had jumped in favour of Ravi Shastri saying that Ganguly should have handled this privately.
On Thursday, however, Ganguly got the support of former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar. Manjrekar tweeted on Thursday, “More than Sourav, I think Ravi is miffed with the rejection. It’s a new experience for him. BCCI have made the better choice as coach.”
Anil Kumble’s selection as the head coach of the Indian cricket team came as a big surprise to many as Kumble did not possess any experience as a coach. It was Ravi Shastri who was being considered the front-runner to grab the position.
After facing rejection, Shastri told media that one of the members from the advisory committee was missing, pointing at Sourav Ganguly. This sparked the verbal debate between two of the former India players.
Even the KKR captain Gautam Gambhir launched an attack at Ravi Shastri, sayinf, “Ravi Shastri’s comments only shows his desperation. Kumble is the best choice, he is a hard-working person.”
