Indian all-rounder Stuart Binny has gone unsold in the first round of 2016 auctions in Karnataka Premier League. Binny would find no takers among the 7 KPL teams in the auctions. India’s current Test opener KL Rahul has also gone unsold, raising many eyebrows.
While Binny did not get to play many IPL matches this year, KL Rahul had an outstanding IPL season with the bat scoring more than 400 runs. The two players are too good to be not given importance in the auction and it seemed they might even be priced higher than any other players in the auction, especially KL Rahul.
The only reason that is cited for Rahul and Binny not being picked by any franchise is their possible engagement in the New Zealand Test series in September. KPL is also scheduled during the time, from September 16 to October 1.
In the auctions, Bharat Chipli has been signed by Bijapur Bulls for Rs. 1.5 lakhs and CM Gautham has been picked by Mangalore United for Rs 1 Lakh.
Other Karnataka stars Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey are unavailable in this auction as they have been retained by their respective KPL sides.
