With Imran Khan becoming the new Prime Minister of Pakistan, there are reports that Pakistan Cricket Board is also going to be revamped.
According to a cricket website, the Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram may be appointed as the next PCB Chairman. Najam Sethi is the current chairman of the cricket board.
A report in Cricktracker says that Akram’s family member has confirmed Akram is the front-runner for the post.
“Yes, Wasim is the front-runner for becoming next PCB chairperson. He’s been associated with IK since both legends used to play cricket for Pakistan and now both ready to take the country on new heights,” a family member was quoted as saying by Sports Mirchi.
Following Imran Khan’s victory, Wasim visited Khan’s Bani Gala residence in Islamabad to congratulate him.
Akram, in past, has been critical of the Pakistan Cricket Board saying some members of the cricket board don’t want to see him doing this.
Wasim said he was what he was because of Pakistan cricket and not because of the cricket board.
