When Delhi Daredevils ended their IPL journey last year, there were speculations that Zaheer might not play the tenth edition of the tournament. Zaheer, himself, was not confident whether he will be able to play in IPL 10 or not when he was asked about his future after Delhi’s last match in the last edition.
Beating all such speculations, the 38-year-old, now, is all set to captain the Delhi franchise yet another time. In the practice session, Zaheer Khan was seen practising hard and he did not look like someone who has retired some two years back.
Zaheer was seen bowling from a short run-up, of just 10 strides. However, this did not let Zaheer to not bowl on the line and length.
TA Sekar, GMR’s sports director and former India paceman, said that Zaheer is intentionally got giving his 100 percent. He spoke to TOI on the sidelines and said, “He is saving his 100 per cent for the matches. Right now, he is only giving 70 to 80 percent.”
Zak, as he is called by his teammates, has tried his best to be in shape for the tournament. He has struck a good balance between cricket and his personal life. Zaheer will be leading the Daredevils side for the second time and on this occasion too, he will be pairing with team’s mentor Rahul Dravid to try and win the first IPL title for the team. This season could also be the last one for Dravid and Zaheer and they would like to finish their IPL stint on a high note.
