On This Day, May 14: AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli recorded highest partnership in IPL
On this day, back in 2016 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batters Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers scripted a record-breaking partnership in the history of T20 cricket and Indian Premier League. It was a must-win match for RCB against Gujarat Lions, where they took the game away from opponent's hand by far by donning the green jersey. After losing the first wicket at 19 in 4th over, skipper Kohli along with his partner de Villiers went on to score centuries and collected 229 runs between them. Kohli scored 109 off 55 balls, including 5 fours and 8 sixes, while de Villiers made 129 not out off just 52 balls with the help of 10 fours and 12 sixes. RCB went on to post 248 with the loss of only 2 wickets and won the match by a massive-margin of 144 runs as they dismissed Gujarat for mere 104.
