Former South Africa captain and legendary opener Graeme Smith on his Instagram and Twitter accounts announced his engagement to long-term girlfriend Romy Lanfranchi.
This will be the second time that Smith will get married. He was previously married to Irish pop star Morgan Deane from 2011 to 2015. They had two children together, a girl named Cadence Christine Smith and a boy named Carter McMorrin Smith.
After his divorce with Deane, Smith started dating Lanfranchi and the pair had a child together, named Biff in 2016. Romy too was previously married for eight years to a man named Michel, before he tragically passed away from a brain hemorrhage in August 2013. She has two sons from her previous marriage.
Smith met Romy through mutual friends when he was going through a tough separation with his first wife. He had said on meeting Romy in an interview with YOU!, “I have been separated from Morgan since the end of December 2014 and it’s been a difficult time for me as we deal with the protracted separation proceedings. Romy and I are enjoying the time we spend together and I am very happy.”
Now Smith has decided to take things with Romy to the next level and he decided to pop the question to which the response was positive.
An ecstatic Smith shared the news of the engagement on his Twitter account:
