The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will allow WAGs and other family members of Team India and coaching staff to stay for 15 days during the ICC World Cup 2019.
However, this window of 15 days will be open only after the first 21 days into the Cricket World Cup. So if the reports are correct – then wives and girlfriends won’t be able to attend the much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan.
Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma has been one of the most regular attendees during the international tours.
“If Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma wants to stay till the last phase of the tournament, she would have to plan it accordingly so that the 15-day window falls into the knockout games,” a source was quoted as saying by Times of India.
The reports also suggest that decision by the Board was taken with the consultation with skipper Kohli. Kohli expressed that families should be present with the players during the World Cup.
During the Australia tour, the Indian officials had a tough time managing the 37-member band.
India starts their ICC World Cup 2019 campaign against South Africa on June 5 in Southampton.
