Bollywood and cricket have been inseparable since time immemorial. Hence, it gets obvious when the glitzy IPL 2019 season has kick-started, Bollywood stars in one way or the other, will be pulled in to add extra glam quotient to the tournament.
Encashing on the popularity of one of the most awaited sporting events of the nation, sponsor brands are leaving no stone unturned to grab as many eyeballs as they possibly can during the series. And what better way to do that than to rope in Bollywood celebs to do the job for you. Yes, many sponsors have got Bollywood stars to become their brand’s face during the ongoing IPL season.
However, there are two names, which have emerged as sponsor brands’ favourites this season – Aamir Khan and Deepika Padukone. According to reports in Insidesports, Aamir will be using his charm to promote IPL title sponsor brand Vivo, where he has replaced Ranveer Singh as the brand’s face before the tournament, PhonePe and shoe brand Walkaroo.
Vivo has already launched ‘Time to pop up the party’ TVCs with Aamir Khan last month.
Post Vivo, PhonePe launched a video campaign with the actor, which they will play during IPL 2019. Interestingly, in the PhonePe ad, shows Aamir as an old man.
Another star who has been racking in big money this season is none other than the hot and stunning Deepika Padukone. The actress will also be seen as the face of Vivo along with online ticketing platform Goibibo.com.
More brands have roped in other big names from the industry to increase their reach during IPL. Like Tata Motors have roped in young star Fatima Sana Shaikh and Gully Boy actor Siddhant Cahturvedi to promote the company as the “official car partner” of IPL 2019, whereas Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan will be seen promoting education platform Byju’s.
Other big names from the industry such as Priyanka Chopra will be seen promoting Samsung, the title sponsor of Mumbai Indians, and Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt to represent MMT.
