Indian Premier League 2019 is just around the corner and team owners would have started thinking on which players to invest money on. Last year, it was a mega auction, which was concluded in the course of two days – but this time around it will be a matter of few buys here and there.
Majority of the team franchisees will be happy with the squad but there can be few changes which might make big headlines. In last few weeks or so we have seen a few franchises already being involved in players transfer with the other franchises.
Chennai Super Kings – 8.40 crores: The defending champions have the most amount in their kitty. They already have one of the strongest squads in the league. They have not made any significant changes to their team as of now but they have the ability to buy in the upcoming auctions.
Kings XI Punjab – 36.20 crores: Last year auction saw Kings XI Punjab spending heavily and bringing in some big names. Punjab has already traded with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and added Mandeep Singh to their ranks. With 36.20 crores left in the kitty and having Preity Zinta on the table – surely this auction is also going to be fun if you are KXIP fan.
Delhi Daredevils – 25.50 crores: Delhi Daredevils have been the most underperforming team in the history of the Indian Premier League. However, they have brought in Shikhar Dhawan from Sunrisers Hyderabad and with the amount of money they are left with – they can solve a few of the problems.
Rajasthan Royals – 20.95 crores: They are yet to make any trading with other franchises and have one of the most balanced squad. If allowed, Steven Smith will also be back on track that will surely make them stronger. They have a solid think tank and will surely spend the money wisely this time around as well.
Mumbai Indians – 11.15 crores: Mumbai Indians underperformed last season as they finished 5th in the competition but they have already started thinking about the next season. They have already got in Quinton de Kock from Royal Challengers Bangalore and with 11.15 crore in their kitty – they will surely be looking to solve other problem as well. They need the right balance in the squad to be up there again.
Kolkata Knight Riders – 15.20 crores: Kolkata Knight Riders lost in the playoffs and are yet to make any signings in offseason trading. But with enough money in the bank, they will be looking to buy a couple of quality match-winners to help them win the trophy for the third time. They will be looking for few allrounders here and there who can be proven match-winners.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – 9.70 crores: They finished seven last season without the services of David Warner. This time around they have been involved in the trading with Delhi Daredevils. They let go of Shikhar Dhawan and have bagged Vijay Shankar, Nadeem, and Abhishek Sharma. Warner will also be back for the next season and with just 9.70 crore still in their purse – they will have to buy intelligently.
Royal Challengers Bangalore – 18.15 crores: They already made a trade with Mumbai Indians by letting Quinton de Kock go. Meanwhile, they bagged Marcus Stonis from KXIP by giving away Mandeep Singh. They have 18.15 crores with them and they are the most desparate team to win the trophy – so they have to indulge in some decent buys.
