A self-confessed watch connoisseur, cricket’s former skipper MS Dhoni has collaborated with Italian luxury watch-maker Panerai and will serve as the company’s Brand Ambassador for India. With this move, Panerai hopes to emphasise on their commitment towards the growing Indian market and reinforce familiarity with its Indian patrons.
After releasing teasers declaring that they had signed on a global sports icon as their ambassador, with a glimpse of a sportsman wearing a No. 7 jersey as a clue to his identity, Panerai formally announced the collaboration on Tuesday.
Dhoni has lauded the authenticity, passion and boldness that Panerai embodies, saying that these are the same strong attributes that he has been applying to his career and personal life. He believes a Panerai Man is bold and daring, and as a testament is often seen sporting the brand on and off the grounds. His favourite though, is the one with a military green strap. “Panerai is a timeless brand. Their watches revolve around the brand’s core ethos – combining Italian design and Swiss watchmaking perfection,” said Dhoni.
