Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni has entered the entertainment fray by signing a long-term deal with production house Banijay Asia. As part of their association, the content will float around every genre across all the platforms.
Banijay Asia – which is a 50-50 partnership between the Banijay group and former Endemol Shine managing Director Deepak Dhar – creates content for television, films and OTT platforms. Talking about his association with the company, Dhoni said the kind of work Banijay group has been creating over the years has been the main reason he got captivated.
“After my biopic, I always wanted to do something in the entertainment space,” Dhoni told ET, adding, “It always captivated me, kept me gripped as there are a lot of fresh concepts I would like to bring; never-seen-before content to the table.”
“I decided to partner with Banijay Asia for the quality of content they have created so far, and with this partnership, I look forward to bring something which is more than exciting and stimulating!”
And as far as the content goes, Dhar has confirmed it will be distributed in India and south-east Asian markets.
Dhoni is no stranger to the sports business club, as he co-owns the Indian Super League franchise, Chennaiyin FC. Apart from that, he also has a stake in Hockey League team Ranchi Rays and co-owns a racing team Mahi Racing Team India with Akkineni Nagarjuna. While this being the sports sector, he also has his roots planted in fashion. Back in 2016, he launched his shoe brand Seven, which manufactures casual and sportswear clothing and footwear.
