Australian bowler John Hastings, who took sudden retirement from cricket due to health issues, is gearing up for his second innings as a businessman. The former cricketer is all set to open a café in Frankston, South Australia with wife Briannan.
Hastings’ cricketing career came to a sudden halt when doctors told him that bowling could be life-threatening for him. Surprisingly, even after various tests, it could not be clearly diagnosed why he coughed up blood every time he bowled.
According to a report in The Sydney Morning Herald, Hastings, Briannan and her cousins are planning to open their cafe early next year. The paper quoted him as saying:
That’s going to be called Mr Frankie. I’ll be in there helping out, trying to sell some coffees, and we’re just going through the process of liquor licensing. There’s an opportunity in the market down there to provide something fresh, new and fun.”
