With just two days left before the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League gets underway, owners of various teams have sealed the deal of title sponsors except for Kings XI Punjab who are yet to find one. While some sponsors have remained with the their team for the upcoming season, couple of teams have got new brands on board.
Today we look at teams have managed to rope in brands for the upcoming season.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The Kolkata team will see Nokia making its return as the lead sponsor of the team after over three years. The agreement is for two years starting with this year’s IPL. Gionee was the official sponsor of the team untill last season.
The Mumbai outfit have extended their partnership with Korean brand – Samsung – after has inking a deal with the company for a period of three years. The mobile handset manufacturer will pay Rs 25 crore each year, for a period of three years, thereby amounting to be Rs 75 crore.
Chennai Super Kings
The outfit from Chennai will continue their association with Muthoot Group as the title sponsors for the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The team from Bangalore will have Wrogn, the lifestyle menswear fashion brand, as the title sponsors for the 2019 edition of the league. Wrogn is co-owned by Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, who also happens to be the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Additionally, Universal Sportsbiz Pvt Ltd will replace Eros Now who were the title sponsor last season.
Inspite of poor performance in every season Delhi outfit have continued to get backing from Japanese company Daikin Air-conditioners as the title sponsors. This will be fifth year running that both brands will continue their association. Daikin struck a deal with Delhi for the first time in 2015 and they have been extending their support every year since then.
The Jaipur outfit will continue their association with JK Lakshmi Cement after the cement brand extended their title sponsorship deal. The Singhania group cement brand has inked a multiple-year deal with the IPL franchisee to be the title sponsors of the team.
The Hyderabad based outfit will have Coolwinks, one of the leading online eyewear platforms in the country, as the title sponsors for the upcoming T20 season. This will be the first time that Coolwinks has associated with a team from one of the most popular cricketing events in India.
As unfortunate as it is, Kings XI Punjab are still to find a title sponsor. We could be hearing a deal in the next few days or the franchise could go the entire season without a sponsor as well!
