Virat Kohli is currently leading the side in the four-match Test series in Australia. Not only has he had success on the field but off the field as well. He has tasted success in becoming the face of many big brands in the country. From watches, bikes foods, headphones etc he is everywhere on the television and could soon overtake former India skipper MS Dhoni as the marketable face in the country. He also became the only Indian celebrity to sign a Rs100 crore endorsement deal with a single brand and now his own brand has entered the Rs100 crore club in business.
According to reports in Times of India Virat’s sports shoe brand One8, which is co-created and co-owned with Puma, has crossed Rs100 crore mark in the Indian market within a year of its launch. Last year in February Kohli had signed a Rs110 crore endorsement deal with German sports brand Puma. The collaboration has a lot in offering for India’s iconic cricketer as he reportedly gets a 10% royalty on the sales.
Speaking to TOI Puma India MD Abhishek Ganguly quoted “We believe collaborating with Virat back in 2017 was the right direction for the brand. The success of our collaboration with One8 has a lot to do with Virat’s popularity. Also, the launch comes at a time when he is at such a pinnacle in his career. Currently, we are planning to double the range of products in this collaboration.”
In spite of names like MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh having their having their own brands, none of these cricketing icons has come closer to Kohli in terms of increasing their brands business.
