To say the former South African batsman Jonty Rhodes is enjoying his post-retirement life to full effect would be an utter understatement here. Following his recent tours to Sri Lanka and India, the 49-year-old along with wife Melanie and kids has decided to explore the hills of Nepal, and we just can’t get enough of his adorable pictures.
It is safe to assume that the Rhodes couple admires the geographical diversities and have left no stones unturned in appreciating the beauty they get to witness. And apart from exploring the rich culture of India, they have decided to travel the neighbouring countries, with their current camp set up in Nepal.
The family spent their New Year’s Eve in “The Root Between Two Stones” and shared an adorable picture while soaking up in hot sun. Nepal has been given this name as it is located in between Tibet (from North) and India (from South). Melanie, while taking to Instagram, mentioned that the locals started calling their son Nathan ‘Gurung’. Gurungs are the people from Gurkha tribes.
Both Jonty and Melanie decided to leave the luxuries of life and went into a full #Wanderlust mode while trekking around the landscapes of the “Roof of the World.” The family visited the Gandaki Zone in the Annapurna Circuit, which is a trek within the Annapurna mountain range of central Nepal and pictures they shared were simply adorable.
Jonty, while sharing a picture of Annapurna circuit, summed up his experience by quoting, “This is where it all started; walking into a village after the first 2 hours of trekking, and being treated to a simple, yet nourishing local meal of rice; spinach and dhal.”
“The meal took 2 hours, but we saw the farmer go and cut the spinach out of his field; and the rice came out of a storage container, not a bag- this was our first “taste” of living in balance with nature, in a culture that has been doing so over hundreds of years.”
