On this day, in 1999, Anil Kumble entered the record books by dismissing 10 Pakistan batsman in the second innings of a Test at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Mohammad Azharuddin was India’s captain, while Wasim Akram was leading Pakistan’s side. After losing the Chennai Test, India ended the series on high note by a thumping win at Delhi and levelling the series.
The 1999 series is always remembered for only Kumble’s 10 for 74. He equaled Jim Laker’s record of taking all 10 wickets in a Test inning, which the English spinner did it against Australia in 1956 Ashes at Manchester.
