On this day, back in 2007, playing their first ever ODI against India in their maiden World Cup appearance, Bermuda’s heavyweight Dwayne Leverock stunned everyone with his brilliant catch off opener Robin Uthappa. It was a cheering moment more for the bowler Malachi Jones than Leverock as the bowler scalped the wicket on the very first ball he bowled in his first World Cup match. Despite the early blow, India posted record total of 413: first ever 400 plus score by a team in a World Cup match. India won the match by 257 runs but the contest was heavily remembered for Leverock’s shocking pouch at the slip.
