On This day in 2012, Bangladesh and Pakistan clashed in an epic Asia Cup final at Dhaka. This was Bangladesh’s first ever final in a big tournament and had beaten the likes of India and Sri Lanka on their way to the final. In the final, they were set a modest target of 237. But despite fifties from Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh could not get over the line. They needed 9 off the final over, but a tight over from Aizaz Cheema, ensured that the hosts fell 2 runs short. This was only the second time, Pakistan had won the Asia Cup.
