The South Africa batsman announced his retirement by posting a video from his official Twitter account and saying, “To be honest, I am tired.” De Villiers has played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is in his career. He amassed 8,765 runs in Tests, 9,577 in ODIs and 1,672 in T20Is respectively. His retirement is certainly among the most shocking one in the history of the cricket. De Villiers is only 34 years old and was in exceptional form in the series against Australia.
