Golden sky-scrapping fireworks set a stupendous sight for the people in London and viewers back home to enjoy as Tottenham launched their new stadium on Wednesday night. It was a dream of an opening ceremony and did not look any less than the opening of a final of a grand tournament.
The cockerel, which is the pride of the London club, took centre stage and look absolutely astounding as the fireworks created magic around it. A big golden cockerel has taken home at the top of the roof on one end of the stadium.
It was a dream for the players walking out as a brass band was in full swing, thousands of fluttering white flags and huge cheers laid the red carpet for the squad. Moreover, there was a strong hailstorm half an hour before kickoff that laid a beautiful white layer on the pitch.
When they shut White Hart Lane two years ago, there was a rainbow over the stadium which made for another picturesque view. It seems Daniel Levy has the weather Gods at his mercy too. The stadium has always been referred to as the ‘world-famous home of the Spurs’, and last night it did not look anything less than world famous!
The club also posted a grand video of the opening ceremony on their Instagram page, with a longer one on the website. It has been a long time coming, but when the replenished version of White Hart Lane was unveiled it was definitely worth the wait; even for the neutrals that were simply awestruck by the grandeur.
It was Son Heung-Min that marked his name in the history books by scoring the first goal at the new stadium. Spurs went on to seal an easy win 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace as Eriksen sealed the deal with a second goal.
With Tottenham sliding down on the table and losing vital points, let us see if the new stadium can bring in some fresh form for the team.
