Footballers and their indistinctive fashion sense is known to many. Thanks to a massive social media presence, these modern stars stand firm in showing off their extravagant fashion trends. And we can criticise them for it to an extreme, but the reality remains; they are hardly affected by it.
Representing a club, however, is a completely different ball game. And in doing that, apart from representing the brand, they need to make sure they look elegant. And especially if your club has reached a final, you won’t see your beloved players roaming around in a tracksuit.
For that matter, the football clubs have their partners, supplying the formal wears for such instances and one of the biggest names in the industry is the German luxury fashion house, Hugo Boss. Hugo Boss’ association in sports stretched up to golf, followed by their sponsorship in Formula E.
The Germans have been a renowned presence and have styled the likes of FC Basel, Galatasaray, even the German national football team and Liverpool in the past. Being a global brand, the German company still has some of the biggest and best names in their roster and let’s take a look at the list;
1. Real Madrid:
This is the third year running that Hugo Boss has teamed up with the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid to be their official suit sponsors. The grams are crafted with ‘finest Italian wool’ and the players will be seen donning the attire in all official ceremonies. As far as the costings are concerned, the slim-fit jacket, as well as the shirt, is set to you a hefty £399 and £99 respectively. The trousers (£179), on the other hand, will take your total to £677.
2. AS Roma:
It was back in October 2017 that Hugo Boss became AS Roma’s official fashion partner. The club and the manufacturers agreed on a two-year deal which will see the players, manager, the management and technical staff donning the finery in all of the club’s official events. A sharp white shirt is followed by a navy blue suit and this will be complemented by a silk tie which will feature the club’s crest.
3. Paris Saint-Germain:
Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain see their association with Hugo Boss stretching back to 2014. Just like Real Madrid and Roma, the Parisians have their suits crafted in a navy blue tone followed by a white shirt and a silk tie, which dons the club’s crest. Apart from the suits, the German company will also provide a casual sweater and relaxed drawstring-waist trousers – as seen in the picture. And not to forget, Hugo Boss is also the suppliers of the club’s women roster.
Just in, both PSG and Hugo Boss will stay associated until the end of the 2019-2020 season.
4. Bayern Munich:
Record German champions Bayern Munich joined hands with Hugo Boss back in 2017. “Never satisfied… Always moving forward towards a new target,” stated the German manufacturers while launching their new range for the 2018/19 season for the Bavarians. Apart from the formal wear, Hugo Boss has also designed the casual wears for the players, which they will wear during their travels.
5. Tottenham Hotspur:
“Our first-team squad and manager will wear Hugo Boss suits from the special ‘Create Your Look’ line during the 2018/19 season,” said Tottenham in a Tweet back in September this year. Unlike the aforementioned clubs, Tottenham went with a dark blue shirt under the suit of similar tone. The silk tie, on the other hand, comes in a similar shade. And not to forget the club’s badge, which has been embroidered on the front pocket.
